Tuval Haim

Tuval Haim, son of Iris and Raviv, brother to Yotam and Noya,
32 years old, residing in Jerusalem.
I was born and raised in Kibbutz Gvulot in the Western Negev, and later moved with my family to the Sde Nitzan settlement.
From a young age, I played drums. My father, who also plays drums, used to take me and Yotam to the music room at the kibbutz, where he let us release all our energy and frustrations.
At the age of 10, I started formal lessons, and it continued from there.
Music was always my safe space, a place where I knew I was good, could show it, and be proud of myself. In this way, Yotam and I were very similar.

In the last decade, I’ve played in various settings, from local bands in Tel Aviv to musicals, the Tararam group, Ivri Lider, Netta Barzilai, and, of course, my band Pulkes.
Folkes is a Balkan klezmer ensemble that I manage, and since its founding, the group has performed at various festivals and clubs in Israel and abroad, including the IndieNegev Festival and the legendary Sziget Festival in Hungary.

As the older brother working in the same field as Yotam, I always wanted to give him the feeling that he could progress at his own pace, when he felt comfortable, and that if he ever needed me, I would be there for him.
We often shared advice and had conversations about advancing our music careers.
In the last two years, Yotam joined a band for the first time – Perspore – and I was very proud of him.
Sadly, the first show I was supposed to attend and see him perform was on October 7th, 2023, which we all know, of course, didn’t happen.

Since then, I’ve dedicated every musical activity I do to Yotam,
and I’m currently working on a project in his memory with my band Folkes and leading artists in Israel, including Berry Sakharof, Echo,Pulkes, and more.
I even feature Yotam in our performances, playing a special piece alongside him.
